A new restaurant in Tusayan is having troubles getting off the ground. The Tusayan Town Council denied the operators of Plaza Bonita, which will be located at the site of the former Café Tusayan, a recommendation for a liquor license.
A liquor consultant hired by the town said the applicant was ill-informed about the process that he needed to go through for approval. There were problems with the application not being fully completed nor did the applicant know about the $560 fee that the applicant had to pay to Tusayan. The applicant claimed they did not know who to call at the town about the process.
The applicants suggested their other restaurants have never had any issues involving alcohol. The license application process is now in the hands of the Arizona State Liquor Department.
